Rough Agate Malawi 1970ies Location Size L

This is a batch of rough 1970ies agates shipped from Germany.

It is a very limited rough batch from the 1970ies location. These rough stones are from the original locality, known as Malawi agates. It became very hard rock to mine over the years, since it had already been mined extensively in the past. The digs are deeper, harder and less accessible. Because of these factors, the rough stones are even more limited in quantity.

They are the largest rough agates coming out of Malawi. Often with beautiful translucency in the outer bands, and a big variety of colors more in the center, like yellow, red, purple,... They are much more prone to fractures than other locations in Malawi.

Most of the pieces in the L size are in a range of 2 1/2 - 5 inches (6,35 –12,7cm). With ca. 1-5 pieces per Kilo.

These agates are mostly complete nodules, with some windows.
