Frequently Asked Questions
What types of agates does Agatebay offer?
We specialize in polished agates from around the world, including specimens from Argentina, Mexico, China, the United States, Germany, and the famous agates of Iceland. We also offer a selection of rough stones. Every Saturday, we release new collections of polished agates, so be sure to visit us regularly!
What does the code assigned to each agate mean?
Every agate has its own unique code, for example “ymela183”:
- y = YouTube
- me = Mexico
- la = Laguna
- 183 = Our internal identification number
Every individual piece receives its own unique code from us.
Can I filter agates according to specific criteria?
You can filter our agates on our website according to several criteria to help you find exactly what you are looking for:
- Country of origin (e.g. Mexico, Iceland, Germany)
- Locality or find location (e.g. Laguna, Feuerstein, river deposits)
- Special characteristics (e.g. Parallax Agate, Floater Agate, banding, and legendary patterns)
Use the filters in our shop to narrow down your search and discover the perfect agates for your collection.
Do you also sell rough agates?
Yes! We currently offer, among others, Laguna rough agates in L and XL sizes, along with many other rough specimens. Visit our rough stone collection to explore what is currently available. Some pieces will be returning soon.
Why does the quality of rough agates vary so much?
Every rough agate is a natural product, and we carefully inspect each stone before offering it for sale. Because we cannot see the complete interior of a rough stone without cutting it open, its final appearance always involves an element of nature and chance. Sometimes the most beautiful patterns and colors only reveal themselves after the stone has been cut and polished. If you are not satisfied with your rough stone, please contact us at info@agatebay.de and we will be happy to assist you.
Do you offer smaller or more affordable pieces?
Yes. You can find smaller and more affordable agates on our Etsy and eBay stores.
How do I know exactly what I am buying?
Every product, whether polished or offered as a rough stone, comes with detailed photographs and a product description so you can make an informed decision and know exactly what to expect.
Do you regularly add new products?
Yes! Every Saturday, we add new products to our website. You can also subscribe to our newsletter, which is released at the same time, so you never miss our latest high-end agates and new arrivals.
