Dear collectors of fine and rare agates!!
This week I have a special update on my website!
Pink agates from Kerrouchen.
Kerrouchen has been a well known place for a few decades now. However it seems there is much less being found than it used to be, and most agate finds these days in Morocco are concentrating in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
Kerrouchen is located in the Middle Atlas and produces a variety of different types.
Well known are the seam type agates, which have been coming out in tons!
Also large nodular pieces with predominantly red colors have been found in container loads of material. Mostly the colorful banding concentrates in the outermost bands of these types of specimens, and the center is often quartz or unbanded chalcedony.
However, one specific type of agate is found only very seldomly!
The pink salmon type colored agates. They are found in a very specific color tone, which I have not seen at other localities yet.
Some of them also with interesting pseudomorph inclusions and a lot of them with parallax too.
I am working together with the miners there and every year they save me some of the best nodules they are finding in an entire year of production. That's how I am ending up with this gorgeous rough to cut open in my newest Youtube video.
I hope you enjoyed this bit of information, and hope you’ll enjoy the video too!
5 of the pairs are no directly available as well as two of the wonderful newer finds from the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco!
Wishing you all a great weekend,
Joshua
