Königlich Imperialer Jaspis

Jazper!

Dear friends of orbicular stones,

We are still in Tucson! I rebooked my flight again, but soon we should be done for real!

This week’s topic is about Royal Imperial jasper. These orbicular wonders have been intriguing me for about 10 years now, when a good batch was brought to market in 2016. Since then it came a little bit to a halt, and the quality of the mine there hasn’t been producing as consistently. It still remains one of the more fun materials for me personally to cut. I of course always focused on buying some more special larger individual stones for higher prices, rather than the average smaller chiplets. It is just gambling on a little higher level with the larger pieces.

I have thrown away some 10lb+ jaspers that cost me hundreds just in the raw state. But also a few pieces which turned out incredible fortunately. This year however.. I haven’t been able to get any nice pieces of a larger size. So I’ll be cutting through what I still saved up, and hope that the mine will produce better again in the coming years.

I hope you enjoy the video and some of the finest pieces I have cut from this mine. They are now available on my website!

If I do decide to sell some rough at a later time, you will find them through my rough stone section.

All the best,Joshua & Agatebay-Team
