Island agates + worldwide

Dear collectors of the finest agates,

It’s been a while, but it is finally time again for some of the most mysterious agates on the market today!

These are arguably some of the most mysterious agates on the market today, as their exact location remains completely undisclosed to the public. While visually similar material has emerged from Madagascar and Indonesia in the past, none of these speculations have ever been officially confirmed or denied. All we know for certain is that they are sourced from an island—which is exactly how they earned their name.

A defining characteristic of these agates is their naturally tumbled exterior, smoothened out over time by rivers or coastal shores. Because they went through this process of secondary transportation rather than being mined directly in situ, they feature a distinctively rounded and weathered backside.

On the inside, they typically reveal incredible depth, beautifully swung banding, and occasionally a striking parallax effect. Due to natural weathering, the exposed "windows" on the outside often hint at completely different colors than what actually lies within. This makes them incredibly exciting to work with, as they are almost always good for a surprise once cut.

Our quantities of this mysterious material are highly limited, so if you want to add some of this rough to your collection, you should definitely grab yours soon!

Since I don’t have many polished specimens left from this specific location, we’ve also added a fantastic variety of other pieces from worldwide locations to this week’s update. https://agatebay.de/en/collections/all-products

You can watch me cut some of these incredible Island agates in the newest video on our YouTube channel right now. Make sure to subscribe if you haven’t already so you never miss an update!

Also now is one of your last chances to grab some of the Alimajo XL rough. We sold most of them already and will take them off my website after the weekend.

See you all again next week,

Joshua & the Agatebay Team
