Agates from Mexiko

Agates from Mexiko

Dear collectors of the finest agates,

Today I am cutting purple Passion agates from Mexico. They are found on one of the parcelas claims. So they are found very close by to nodular varieties, which can also strike some purple color tones. However, the other parcelas claims have been inactive for a long time, and the most intense purples seem to come from the veiny location.

While these agates are pretty famously known for their deep purple color varieties, a lot of people don't realize that they are one of the worst stones to cut.

Since they form in the voids of host rock, rather than nodules, they typically have the following difficulties:

- strange cutting angles

- lots of host rock attached to the often small agate cores

- low yield with quartz and host rock

- often fractured

So while the best pieces can be extremely rewarding to cut, almost all agates from there will be a disappointment. What I cut in the video are some of the best rough stones I have ever seen, and does not reflect any typical quality.

I hope you enjoy the video and some of the finest pieces I have cut from this location. They are now available on my website

You will also be able to find other varieties of Mexican agates freshly available. Thereunder you can find one of the best Loma Pinta agates I have ever owned (with strong Parallax!!), and beauties from other Mexican locations.

I also discounted a good bunch of new pieces, which you can find in the SALE section of my website. With those now more affordable pieces, it will make it easier for you to get the extra 20% discount if you order more than 10 pieces at once.

All the best,Joshua & Agatebay-Team
