Agates from Turkey!
Dear collectors of the finest and rarest agates,
It is always incredibly exciting when new localities emerge and really stir up the market! I am currently working on several brand-new locations that will likely be revealed later this year.
A few months ago, I traveled through Turkey to track down the absolute best agates the country has to offer. I was particularly blown away by the finds near Amasya. Agates that formed inside the cavities left behind by fossilized branches and tree trunks.
If you aren't familiar with the different localities in Turkey yet, make sure to check out my YouTube video from last December. You can experience the whole adventure right there!
In my opinion, the limb casts from this area are among the most spectacular new discoveries in recent history. Thanks to their distinct shapes, vibrant colors, and fascinating structures, cutting these is an absolute joy.
In today’s video, I’m taking you into my workshop to slice some of the most beautiful specimens from this trip open. Not into slices! All the pieces featured in the video, along with other treasures from Turkey, are now available directly on our website.
Unfortunately, the geopolitical situation on-site remains unchanged: following disputes between the miners and local authorities, significantly less material seems to be making its way out. However, if you want to try your hand at cutting these yourself, we still have some excellent rough stones available in the rough rock section of our website. Some of the individual higher end rough pieces are starting to run low in inventory.
In our upcoming live shows, I’ll also be dropping some very special, unique pieces. I will keep you posted! The next one might be June 14th.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Joshua & the Agatebay Team
